Robin Harding is the FT's Asia editor, responsible for our journalism from Australia to Afghanistan, following a stint as Tokyo bureau chief from 2015-2021.
Harding also writes on the global economy for the opinion page, having previously worked as US economics editor in Washington DC from 2010-2014, where he covered the US Federal Reserve, the Treasury and the IMF.
Dan Wang
China Director, Eurasia Group
Dr Dan Wang is China Director for Eurasia Group, specialising in China's economy and geopolitics. She previously served as the Chief Economist at Hang Seng Bank China based in Shanghai, responsible for macroeconomic forecasting and capital market analysis. Dan holds a PhD in economics from the University of Washington, with expertise in property rights, environmental economics and econometrics. During her postdoc research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, She designed and led nationwide surveys on agriculture commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture and the State Council. She is a frequent voice in global media and writes a column for FT China. She regularly delivers keynote speeches at government and industry forums and participates in high-level policy discussions worldwide.
Michaela Browning
Senior Advisor, Brunswick Group
Michaela is a Senior Advisor at Brunswick Group, drawing on more than three decades of senior experience across government, diplomacy, technology and business in Asia-Pacific. She advises leaders navigating geopolitical and national security issues, government and regulatory environments, technology and cyber security, and investment and trade across the region.
Michaela previously served as Brunswick’s CEO for Asia-Pacific, leading the firm across six offices in the region and advising global and regional clients on critical issues and opportunities.
Before joining Brunswick, Michaela was Vice President and Regional Head of Government and Public Policy for Asia Pacific at Google. She led the company’s engagement with governments, institutions, businesses and civil society across the region on issues spanning technology and innovation, investment, regulation, privacy and security. She was also a member of Google’s regional Operations, Global Affairs and Risk leadership committees.
Michaela previously spent more than 28 years in the Australian Government as a senior diplomat and national agency executive, with a career spanning foreign policy, defence and national security, trade and investment. She served as Senior International Adviser to Australia’s Ministers for Defence and Foreign Affairs, Australian Consul-General in Hong Kong and Macau, and inaugural CEO of the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations. She also held senior roles at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission and represented Australia in trade negotiations at the World Trade Organization and on the Australia-US and Australia-Singapore Free Trade Agreements.
Michaela is a Non-Executive Director of Singtel Optus and an Australian representative to the APEC Business Advisory Council, where she chairs the Finance and Economics Working Group. She also serves on the boards of the US-ASEAN Business Council, Australia-Japan Business Co-operation Committee, Asia Society Australia and BlueForge Alliance.
She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) and a Master of Foreign Affairs and Trade from Monash University, as well as an Honorary Doctorate in Business from RMIT University.
